A table with 18 long spikes underneath  is shown all round.
 

The spikes are removed and a member of the audience is invited to
examine it. This is to remove any doubts and to ensure that they are
all for real and made of solid stainless steel. The spikes are replaced
back and a lever is pushed up and down to show that the 18 spikes
move simultaneously with the lever and penetrates the table.

A lady from the audience is made to lie on the table. A piece of
newspaper is placed on her body and covered with a box from
her neck to her thighs. Then with all the jokes and humor created,
the handle is pushed down. All 18 solid steel spikes penetrate
her body and emerge on the top of the box. Then everything is
restored back, the box cover is removed to reveal that the paper
has 18 holes made by the spikes. The spikes did indeed penetrate
to the top of the box however there is apparently no harm
to the lady. She then walks off to a thunderous applause.
